Welder, Saw & Assembly

Position:     Welder, Saw & Assembly (Entry Level)
Department:     Fabrication
Reports to:    Welding Supervisor
Location:    Bethlehem
FLSA:        Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
This position welds, saws and assembles products, floating between fabrication departments based on business needs.

Primary Functions:
  • Receives instructions, prints and work orders for jobs. Plans details of working procedures, tools and materials requirements.
  • Fabricates product for the Assembly Department by cutting, burning and welding various metals.
  • Repairs product by using welding techniques and appropriate welding equipment.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles and tacks weld parts.
  • Builds up worn or defective surfaces.
  • Uses burning equipment to dismantle assemblies and to cut materials to size and shape.
  • Uses sand blaster and glass beading equipment to surface finish manufactured parts.
  • Produces high quality assembled products in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Operates industrial saw.
  • Maintains high standards of safety and quality.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.  Trade school preferred.
  • Completion of welding certifications and/or apprenticeship preferred.
  • One or more years of welding experience in school and/or workplace
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job including:
    • Safely navigate a manufacturing environment
    • Extended periods of standing, and able to stoop, bend, twist, push, pull and reach
    • Able to use computer equipment
    • Sufficient manual dexterity for assembly work
    • Able to wear required PPE for welding, saw and assembly work
    • Perform frequent lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
