History

Strahman Valves, Inc. was founded in 1921 by Theodore and Herman Strahman as a distributor of European valve products. As the Company grew, the Strahman brothers began to design and manufacture their line of valve products with a mission to provide superior equipment to meet customers' more stringent emerging demands. Strahman was the first Company to develop a free-flowing, non-clogging piston tank bottom and drain valve for the USA Dairy market. This design and engineering expertise led to the development of a complete line of high-quality, innovative sampling valves that were quickly adopted across numerous markets.

In the early 20s, recognizing a need for a high-performance mixing unit that could distribute hot water for facility clean-up, Strahman engineers pioneered the first steam and cold-water safety mixing unit. Up to that time, typical industry methods outfitted random plumbing fittings with little regard to user safety or process efficiency. Strahman quickly earned a reputation for producing the "gold standard" of mixing units through innovation and design. In subsequent years, Strahman developed the industry's first hot and cold-water mixing units and the industry's first thermostatically controlled mixing unit. In the early 1930s, Strahman developed a complete line of hand-held industrial spray nozzles and hoses. In the decades since, Strahman has maintained its reputation of providing wash down systems with rugged design, superior performance, and precise temperature control. Long-lasting, reliable products have made the Strahman name a well-respected, trustworthy brand throughout many industries.

The Company moved from New York City to New Jersey in 1958 to meet the growing demand for its high-quality valve and wash down products. In 2004, Strahman expanded our capabilities into the custom-made fabricated valve market by acquiring MG Process Valves, a leader in the design and manufacture of specialty valves for critical applications, based in Mery, France. This acquisition enabled Strahman to extend its US capability globally and bring new innovative European products to the US.

Continued growth across all business segments enabled Strahman Valves to expand its headquarters and US operations to a larger and new state-of-the-art facility in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and upgrade its capabilities in Mery, France, in 2006. These modern ISO 9001 certified manufacturing facilities in the USA, France, and Germany, provide the Company with the ability to design, produce, assemble and test a wide variety of industrial valves and washdown equipment.

During the last decade, the washdown department's developments have led to Strahman innovating the Washdown product offering through the addition of new features such as advanced nozzles and hoses. The expanded nozzle capabilities, such as the HydroDrain Cleaner, provide superior cleaning service for the most demanding industrial cleaning applications. High-quality hoses and nozzles are fully compatible with all Strahman hot and cold water mixing units, adding the ability to wash down an area with 160° F pressurized water.

In 2015, the Strahman Company acquired BI-TORQ Automated & Fire Safety Valves. This new partnership broadened Strahman's area of expertise and capability to design, manufacture and supply a broad range of automated valve products and actuation equipment, particularly thermal shut-off valves used in fire protection systems. These systems allow for users to meet stringent Fire-Safety and FM Approval requirements.

In 2021, Strahman Valves, Inc. created the "Strahman Group" of brands connecting our existing product divisions and re-branding them as Strahman Process Valves, Strahman Washdown Equipment, and BI-TORQ Valve Automation. These products, entirely manufactured and assembled in Bethlehem, PA, and Mery, France, will be supported by a dedicated sales team fully trained to meet our customers' critical application requirements.

The Strahman Group remains committed to providing innovative, high-quality products and best-in-class service and support to our customers throughout the marketplace.
